Mini Starz: approximate age 2.5-6yrs
Junior Starz: approximate age 5-8yrs (Kindergarten - Year 2)
Intermediate: approximate age 9-12yrs (Year 3 - Year 5)
Senior: approximate age 13yrs and over
Classes Offered at Rising Starz
Mini Starz Preschool Dance Program
Mini Starz is an introductory class for young students aged 2.5-6yrs. Mini Starz classes are offered in Jazz and Ballet. Our Mini Starz program aims to promote fun, co-ordination, self esteem, confidence, flexibility and creativity. Students learn simple movements and dance combinations. Their dance class will be something they look forward to every week.
JFH- Jazz/Funk/Hip Hop
Jazz is an up-beat style of dance. It is great fun and students get to dance to songs they hear on the radio. The class aims to promote flexibility, strength, co-ordination musicality and fitness. (Students have the opportunity to participate in jazz or hip hop exams)
Ballet
Ballet is the foundation to all dance disciplines and is the fundamental class for those students who wish to pursue a career in dance. Ballet requires discipline, balance, strength and grace. The class aims to promote correct posture, flexibility, grace, balance, strength, co-ordination as well as musicality. (Students have the opportunity to participate in ballet or contemporary dance exams)
Street Tap
Tap classes are very exciting and noisy. Anyone who has seen 'Tap Dogs' will know how amazing tap can be. During tap classes students wear special shoes equiped with metal taps. At Rising Starz our tap classes are unlike traditional tap classes. Not only do students learn tap technique they also get to experiment with creating different sounds by using props such as boxes, buckets and lots of other interesting objects. The class aims to promote co-ordination, develop a sense of rhythm, timing and expression.
Cheerleading- Meteors Cheer Squad
Cheerleading consists of dance, tumbling and stunting. Students start with basic dance and tumbling skills and progress into more challenging dance, tumbling and stunting progressions. Cheerleading is a high energy sport which promotes team work and co-operation. If you are after a lot of fun then this is the class for you. (Students have the opportunity to participate in the Australian All Stars Cheerleading grading system)
Glee Club
Join our very own 'Glee Club'. Learn to sing, learn to move and most importantly learn to perform! Inspired by the hit TV show Glee, students will participate in singing as part of a chior as well as participating in drama activities such as improv, mime and drama games. This class has it all and provides students with the opportunity to express themselves.
Baton Twirling (Newcastle Baton Twirling Club)
Baton Twirling combines dance and gymnastics together with the art of twirling to create a fun, challenging and unique class. We are the only Baton Twirling Club within Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Central Coast. Baton Twirling is a sport which builds team work and co-operation in a fun and challenging context.
All Starz Showgroup
Our All Starz Showgroup is an invitation only class. It is offered to those students who demonstrate passion, dedication and enthusiasm for their dance classes. Our All Starz Showgroup is a representative class which represents Rising Starz Performing Arts at local community events. In the past our showgroup has performed at the Mattara Festival, the Mattara Parade, Belmont Neighbourhood Center open day, Eleebana Primary School Christmas Fair, Dudley Primary School Fair and Dreamworld on the Gold Coast just to name a few.
